Mosquitoes infected with the West Nile virus were discovered in September in nine locations throughout Israel, including the Beit She'an Valley, the Carmel coast, Modi'in, Jerusalem, and Kibbutz Eilot. The Environment Ministry recommends that people drain any standing water in order to prevent the mosquitoes from breeding.
