World Bank director to Israel: Keep crossings open

The World Bank director for the Gaza Strip and West Bank, Nigel Roberts, called on Israel Monday to keep the crossings between the Gaza Strip and Israel open, in order to aid the Palestinian economy. He said that Palestinians have become more pessimistic since disengagement, partly due to the closure of the Karni crossing during the holiday period. The past closures of the Karni crossing had a significant effect on the Palestinian economy, Israel Radio reported.
