The brothers were in the area to spend the holidays near the grave of Rabbi Nahman of Breslev. This week is the 200th anniversary of his death.
Both of the brothers were apparently stabbed during a fight with local residents of the town which erupted after the locals threw rocks at the car outside Tobol's house.
The two brothers heard the disruption and came downstairs to see what was happening only to find that their vehicle had been damaged.
One of the brothers chased after the locals and was then stabbed in the chest. He collapsed and later died in hospital.
The other brother ran towards his brother to help him and was also stabbed.
