As part of a protest against the IDF assault on a Gaza-bound flotilla, a Jewish memorial service will be held in a Washington park opposite the White House on Sunday. Prayers will be said for the people killed in the raid.
The event is part of a conference sponsored by the "Interfaith Network of Spiritual Progressives" and will include Jewish healing prayers for those hurt or wounded in the raid, Israeli and foreign alike, as well as prayers for release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit and for the release of Palestinians held by Israel.

"The overwhelming majority of American Jews," said Rabbi Michael Lerner, chair of the Network of Spiritual Progressives and editor of Tikkun Magazine, "are saddened at the killings and wounding that took place on the high seas on May 31st, and want to make clear that this kind of behavior is not a morally acceptable or politically effective way for Israel to achieve security."
Muslim and Christian clerics are also expected to be in attendance.
