A major project to clear away old buildings in Nesher's Ben-Dor neighborhood and replace them with new apartments has been given the official green light, reports Yediot Haifa. The project will create 1,226 new apartments on 135 dunams of land on the northern slopes of Mount Carmel. According to the report, the Ben-Dor neighborhood was established during the British Mandate and contains many old, detatched homes. As in many other cities, Nesher aims to create higher-density housing to meet the needs of its growing population. As well as the apartment towers, the area will gain a new medical clinic, community center, synagogue and public gardens.
