Police have arrested three men on suspicion of sexually molesting girls around Ra'anana in recent weeks, reports www.local.co.il. The arrests follow a wave of sexual assaults on girls aged eight to 18 that has sent fear through the city recently. In just two weeks, at least five separate incidents of molestation were reported, ranging from a man exposing himself to a girl in the stairwell of her building, to a man trying to force a junior high school girl into a car, to men fondling and making lewd suggestions to elementary school girls. According to the report, police say the suspects are all residents of Ra'anana and match the descriptions given by the victims. A police spokesman said no new reports of molestation had been made to police since the arrests, but the investigation is continuing and police will still maintain the extra patrols that were deployed in the wake of the assaults. Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, a Ra'anana resident has been sentenced to eight months' probation, fined NIS 10,000 and ordered to do one year of community service after being found guilty of being in possession of 1,500 photos and 150 movies of young naked girls. The Kfar Saba Magistrate's Court sentenced the 57-year-old man, whose lawyers said he had become addicted to Internet pornography during a period when his work entailed numerous trips abroad and he felt lonely.
