Abbas: I'll pull out troops unless Israel halts West Bank operations

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has told supporters he'll withdraw his forces from West Bank cities unless Israel halts its army operations there. Abbas spoke in a meeting Tuesday with legislators from his Fatah movement. Abbas has been trying to assert control over the West Bank by sending reinforcements to several towns. However, he says that the IDF's operations against terror suspects there undermine his standing. Abbas said he would bring up the issue in a meeting with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Thursday.
