Abbas aide: Israel creating obstacles to peace efforts

A senior Palestinian Authority official on Wednesday accused Israel of putting obstacles in the path of peace, and called for stronger US intervention. "So far, we see nothing but more Israeli obstacles," said Nabil Abu Rdeneh, an adviser to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. "The credibility of the US administration depends on the pressure that the US administration is willing to exert on Israel." He spoke to reporters after Abbas met with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in the West Bank. Abu Rdeneh said the gaps between Israel and the Palestinians remained wide, and that "there is a need for more American effort."
