Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas urged Palestinians to vote in Wednesday's legislative elections.
"The election is a right and duty at the same time, and I hope that the results of this election will reflect honestly the Palestinian people's opinions," Abbas said Tuesday, speaking on the eve of the vote.
Abbas's Fatah Party is facing a tough challenge from the Hamas in the vote. There was no campaigning permitted on Tuesday.
Abbas also welcomed the participation of European and American monitors who will observe the voting, and called for Israel to halt attacks on Palestinians.
