An American soldier was killed by small-arms fire in western Baghdad, the military said Thursday. The Multi-National Division - Baghdad soldier died Wednesday, according to a US military statement. US troop deaths in Iraq have dropped sharply. So far this month, the military has reported 35 deaths, compared with 38 in October. In June, 101 US soldiers died in Iraq.
