Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki Friday during a surprise visit to Baghdad.
Rudd, who was elected in November, has pledged to pull his country's 500 combat troops out of Iraq by mid-2008. He said that after the troops withdraw in June, Australia will continue to help train the Iraqi police force and army.
