Australian foreign minister visits Baghdad

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki discussed the situation in the country on Thursday with Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, the government said. Australia, a strong US ally, continues to maintain 1,000 troops inside Iraq and another 600 providing air and naval support in the region.
