EU to set up new section to rehabilitate PA Justice Sector

The EU Police Coordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support (EUPOLL) has opened a new division - called the Rule of Law Section - which will work to assist the Palestinians in developing a comprehensive strategy for the Palestinian Justice Sector. According to EUPOLL, almost 90 percent of inmates in Palestinian prisons have not received a final sentence. The new section will advise and monitor the functioning of the Palestinian Justice Sector, including the Civil Police, the Ministry of Justice, the prosecutors' offices, Courts, the High Judicial Council, the Bar Association, and the Prison System.
