An Egyptian judge fined on Sunday a news company for not possessing the proper operating license after it uploaded footage of violent anti-government demonstrations.
Judge Sherif Kamel fined Cairo News Company 150,000 Egyptian pounds ($27,000) for operating unlicensed broadcast equipment in response to a government complaint.
The complaint came shortly after CNC broadcast footage from Al-Jazeera English in April showing anti-government protesters tearing down a huge portrait of President Hosni Mubarak.
Authorities in Egypt are very sensitive about negative portrayals of the president.
