An explosion went off in a Christian suburb east of the Lebanese capital Wednesday, but the cause was not immediately known, a senior Lebanese security official said. The official said the explosion occurred in the Sin el-Fil district, adding it was not clear what caused the explosion or whether there were any casualties. Local television stations said the loud explosion sent a cloud of gray smoke over the area.
