Fatah gives Abbas go-ahead on unity government

Fatah's central committee on Friday authorized Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to begin forming a unity government with Hamas. The committee's meeting, which began Wednesday in Amman, was the first of its kind since Fatah was routed in parliamentary elections to Hamas in January.
