First shipment of Iraqi oil since 2003 US-led war arrives in Jordan

The first shipment of Iraqi oil since the 2003 US-led war has arrived at the Jordanian border and will soon be trucked into the kingdom, Jordan's oil minister said Tuesday.
Khaldoun Qteishat said Tuesday the shipment totaled 18,500 barrels of oil and that it came from Beiji, home to a major Iraqi refinery 155 miles (250 kilometers) north of Baghdad.
The shipment comes six weeks after Jordan's King Abdullah II became the first Arab head of state to visit Iraq since the 2003 ouster of Saddam Hussein.
In 2006, Iraq promised to resume oil supplies to Jordan, but that never took place because of attacks inside Iraq on trucks ferrying goods on roads leading to Jordan.
