Hundreds of security officials protested in Gaza City on Wednesday to demand months of unpaid wages from the Palestinian Authority. The protesters said they were loyalists to the Fatah Party, led by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who heads the Palestinian government in the West Bank. Since Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip in June, Abbas's government has not paid around 16,000 security officials, hired by the previous Hamas-led government, fearing they may be loyalists of the group. Abbas's government is awash with money from international donors and tax revenues.
