Gaza power plant shuts down one of four turbines due to fuel shortage

A senior Gaza energy official says the territory's only power plant has shut down one of its four turbines because Israel hasn't shipped enough fuel. Kaanan Obeid from the Gaza Energy Authority says one turbine was shut down at 1 a.m. and another would be switched off by midday. Israel is Gaza's only source of fuel, and ordinarily ships fuel for the power plant twice weekly. Last week it delivered fuel only once. Fuel shipments have been sporadic since Palestinian terrorists attacked the Nahal Oz fuel depot near Gaza last month, killing two Israelis.
