Germany's Defense Minister Franz-Josef Jung visited his country's peacekeepers in Lebanon's Mediterranean waters on Monday and observed joint training by Lebanese and German naval forces, the state-run National News Agency said. Jung met Lebanese army commander Gen. Michel Suleiman and inspected German Navy patrol boats off the Lebanese coast, the NNA said. The two sailed out of Beirut's main Naval Base in boats to the lead vessel of the Maritime Taskforce, the frigate BAYERN, at high sea. After returning, they observed a damage control training exercise of the Lebanese Navy, conducted by German Navy officers.
