A gunbattle broke out at the Egypt-Gaza border just after the Rafah crossing was opened for the first time in about a month, a Palestinian official at the crossing said Friday. There were casualties but it was unclear how many, or whether they were dead or wounded, said Hani Jabbour, a Palestinian diplomat speaking by telephone from inside the border terminal.
