A Lebanese soldier was killed Monday in a shootout with gunmen outside a Palestinian refugee camp in northern part of the country, a military official said.
The shootout started after an argument between troops manning a checkpoint outside the Nahr al-Bared refugee camp near the northern city of Tripoli and relatives of an ailing woman who died later at a hospital, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
