Thousands of Hamas supporters gathered on Tuesday morning to protest the Annapolis summit, Israel Radio reported.
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh opposed attempts to normalize relations with Israel, and criticized West Bank residents for not protesting the US-backed conference.
Meanwhile, in Ramallah, dozens did try to demonstrate against the Annapolis forum, but were quickly dispersed by Palestinian Authority police forces.
Earlier Tuesday, Army Radio quoted Islamic Jihad leader Abdullah Ramadan Shalah as declaring that the goal of Annapolis was to make Arab countries normalize relations with Israel and give Arab approval to an American-Israeli strike on Iran.
In an interview with the Arab newspaper Al-Quds al-Arabi, Shalah said the Arab peace initiative was worse than US President George W. Bush's vision, worse than the road map and even worse than the Oslo Accords and the Balfour Declaration.
