Haniyeh: New army will not be dismantled

Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail said Friday that he would not dismantle his government's new security force of militants, despite demands by Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas. "I assure you that we don't intend to take any step back. The force will stay and will be integrated into the police force, and will be active within this system," Haniyeh said during a sermon he delivered in a Gaza Citymosque. The 3,000-strong army was deployed earlier this week, causing growing friction with Abbas and supporters of his Fatah Party.
