Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas urged gunmen to withdraw from Gaza City's streets on Saturday, after both Hamas and the rival Fatah movement violated a cease-fire deal.
Haniyeh also said that Gaza City's Islamic University, a Hamas stronghold, sustained $15 million in damage during attacks in recent days by security forces allied with his political rival, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Haniyeh said the Hamas-led government would give a grant of $1 million to the university.
He spoke as fighting continued in Gaza City.
