Meetings are taking place to discuss the terms and conditions of a prisoner swap between Israel and Hizbullah, Sheikh Naim Kassem, Hizbullah's deputy leader said in an interview published by Al Jazeera Tuesday and cited by Ma'ariv. "There are meetings taking place behind the scenes which are discussing the details, how a deal would be conducted, and what are the conditions," Kassem said. Kassam added that when the time is right, an announcement would be made revealing the results of these meetings. "Negotiations are not advanced through newspaper interviews and other forms of media," he said. When asked if Hizbullah would consider allowing an interview with kidnapped IDF soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, Kassem said that the status of the soldiers was connected to "the negotiation process, and not to the media trade." The two IDF reservists were kidnapped on July 12 in a Hizbullah attack which sparked a month-long war between the organization and Israel.
