Iraq: Bomb kills 1 US soldier in eastern Baghdad

A US soldier was killed by a roadside bomb Thursday during a combat patrol in eastern Baghdad, the military said. Another soldier was wounded in the attack, the military said in a statement. The soldiers were conducting "continuous clearing and targeted raid operations... in an effort to provide security to the Iraqi people and disrupt militia activities," the statement said. The victims' names were withheld pending family notification.
