Iraq: Jordan's King Abdullah arrives for talks

The Iraqi government has announced that Jordan's King Abdullah arrived in Baghdad for talks, marking the first visit by an Arab head of state since the US-led invasion of 2003. A government statement says Abdullah has met with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for talks on bilateral relations. The statement describes the talks as "frank and positive." Monday's visit had not been announced. Iraqi officials announced in July that the king was planning to travel to Iraq in the coming days but the visit was postponed because Jordanian authorities did not want advance publicity.
