A former lawmaker was arrested Thursday after he accused Jordan's government of corruption in an e-mail to an American senator, officials said. Ahmad Oweidi al-Abbadi, chairman of a small right-wing group called the Jordanian National Movement, was detained for 15 days pending interrogation, a judicial official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to speak to the media. No other details were immediately available.
