Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki will meet Tuesday with Syrian President Bashar Assad in the first-ever visit of an Iraqi premier in Syria since 2003.
Maliki will ask Assad to use his power to prevent the smuggling of terrorists' weapons from his country to Iraq. Assad is expected to request a timetable dictating the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq.
