Israel's insistence on being recognized as a Jewish state conspires against Palestinian refugees, Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said in a televised address Friday, according to a Saturday Ma'an news agency report.
Speaking at a mass wedding organized by Hamas in Damascus for more than 700 couples Mashaal warned that family is the central compound of Palestinian society and the "occupation (Israel) fears the coming generation. They fear our people in the Gaza Strip and in the West Bank as well as Palestinian territories occupied in 1948."

"They are preparing their plans after they failed to break these people who do not surrender and who pass on the mantle from one generation to another," Mashaal added.
According to the report Mash'al called the belief in politics as the only way the Palestinians will achieve a state of their own as "one of the biggest mistakes." He claimed that the Palestinian leadership was "drowning in politics."
Mashaal also said that politics must be put aside, adding that "resistance and Jihad come from society," the report continued.
