One killed, 12 wounded as blast shakes Iraqi city of Karbala

One person was killed and 12 were wounded Wednesday night when a bomb exploded in the Iraqi city of Karbala, Iraqi officials said, adding that some of the casualties were women and children.
The blast occurred shortly after 11 p.m. in the center of Karbala about 800 yards from the shrine of Imam Hussein and a short distance from an Iraqi army checkpoint.
