A group of Palestinian and Israeli women met at the UN headquarters on Wednesday night in order to discuss methods of advancing a peace agreement between the two nations. Israel Radio reported that one of the participants, Galia Golan, expressed her support for the peace initiative approved at the Arab summit in Beirut four years ago. Palestinian participant Professor Hanan Ashwari said that peace plans involving interim stages just created difficulties on the way to reaching a political solution.
