Palestinian commander in Lebanon dies from wounds sustained in clash

Palestinian security officials say the leader of an extremist Palestinian group has died from wounds sustained in a clash inside a refugee camp in south Lebanon. Shehadeh Jawhar was military commander of the Jund al-Sham group which follows the extremist ideology of al-Qaida. He was critically wounded in the clash Saturday with members of the Palestinian Fatah movement. Two other Palestinian gunmen were killed. Jawhar died early Sunday from his wounds, said the Palestinian officials after seeing Jawhar at a hospital in the Ein el-Hilweh camp. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the press.
