Palestinians wanted by Israel escape W. Bank jail

Palestinian prisoners wanted by Israel say they have escaped a Palestinian jail. A leader of the group, Mahdi Abu Ghazaleh, says by telephone that the 12 detainees fled the Palestinian prison Friday night after a fight broke out with wardens. The escapees were part of a group of terrorists who turned themselves in three months ago rather than get caught by Israel. As part of a deal, the Aksa Martyrs Brigades members were to serve time in return for Israel's agreement to eventually take them off the wanted list. The group is responsible for killing more than 1,100 Israelis in fighting since 2001.
