Poland extends Iraq deployment through 2007

Polish President Lech Kaczynski approved extending his country's military mission in Iraq until the end of 2007, his foreign policy advisor said Friday. "The president has signed the document approving the extension of the military mission," Andrzej Krawczyk told The Associated Press. The government, led by Kaczynski's twin brother, Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski, asked the president to extend the mission on Tuesday. The decision keeps the number of Polish soldiers in the country steady at 900.
