Pro-Palestinian activist boats arrive in Gaza Strip

The two boats of pro-Palestinian activists sailing to the Gaza Strip have arrived at the coastal territory, Army Radio reported late Saturday afternoon. The boats are carrying humanitarian supplies as part of a mission to defy Israel's yearlong blockade of Gaza. Since setting sail from Cyprus on Friday, the mission had been in question. Israel had hinted it might prevent the vessels from reaching Gaza. The activists also suffered from rough seas and accused Israel of sabotaging their communications equipment. Israel announced shortly that it would permit the boats to dock in Gaza. Hundreds of Palestinians have gathered to greet them.
