The Quartet - the US, Russia, EU and UN - said at the end of a meeting Friday night that they would support a Palestinian unity government that includes Hamas, Israel Radio reported. The group's announcement did not mention the points previously stipulated as conditions for supporting a Palestinian unity government: recognition of Israel, acceptance of past agreements with Israel and an a halt to terrorism. A senior official in Jerusalem said Israel's position had not changed, and that it would not recognize a Palestinian government that includes Hamas representatives.
