Arab countries are pressing Hamas to accept the Saudi peace initiative presented in 2002, the Persian Gulf daily Al-Khalij reported Monday.
A number of states, including Egypt, have suggested that Hamas could reject the Quartet's demands and accept the Saudi plan instead.
The new Arab proposal calls on Hamas to recognize Israel on the condition that the United States back the establishment of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders.
