Report: Hamas willing to resume talks with Fatah over Yemeni initiative

Hamas is willing to resume talks with Fatah over the Yemeni initiative which advocates that Hamas cede control of the Gaza Strip to the forces of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in return for the expediting of a general election in all of the Palestinian-controlled territories, Israel Radio reported Wednesday. Hamas spokesman in Gaza Ayman Taha said, however, that his organization still did not agree to all of the terms of the agreement and wished to receive clarifications regarding the clause that calls for the reversal of the Hamas takeover of the Strip. Fatah is demanding that Hamas accept the initiative in its entirety before the two sides resume negotiations.
