Saudi Arabia decapitates two men convicted of murdering fellow citizens

The Saudi Interior Ministry says it beheaded two men convicted of murdering two fellow citizens in separate incidents.
The two were executed Saturday in the northern town of Tabuk, said an Interior Ministry statement carried by the official state news agency, SPA.
Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which people convicted of murder, drug trafficking, rape and armed robbery can be executed.
Saturday's execution brings the number of people beheaded this year to 58, according to an Associated Press count. Saudi Arabia beheaded 137 people last year, up sharply from the 38 executed in 2006.
