Egyptian intelligence chief Gen. Omar Suleiman will arrive in the Palestinian Authority to mediate talks between top PA and Hamas officials regarding the ceasefire, which Hamas has said would expire at the end of the calendar year. Egypt is pressing the factions to extend the truce, and is slated to host the various Palestinian faction leaders at a conference at the end of November. One of Hamas's condition for prolonging the ceasefire is that Israel not interfere with Palestinian elections and Hamas's candidacy in the vote.
