Syria and Turkey are considering creation of a joint energy company and may construct nuclear power plants as part of such a deal, Syrian Oil Minister Sufian Alao was quoted by Reuters as saying Friday.
According to a report in Turkey's Antolian news agency, Alao said the two nations will announce the new venture in the coming days.
The new company would search for oil throughout the two countries as well as other nations.
"We could also enter into cooperation in the nuclear field. I spoke to [Turkish Energy Minister Hilmi] Guler on cooperation. In the future we could found joint nuclear power plants for electricity production," he was quoted as saying.
