Syrian Vice President Faruq a-Shara was expected to pay a state visit to Iran later on Friday.
He was scheduled to discuss making the ties between the two states closer, and to talk about the increased tensions between the international community and both Syria and Iran, Israel Radio reported.
In January, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited Syria.
