Turkish court rejects restrictions on pro-Kurdish Party

Turkey's top court ruled Thursday that a pro-Kurdish party should face no restrictions during a court case over whether to shut the party down for alleged ties to separatist rebels, reports said.
The Constitutional Court said members of the Democratic Society Party must be allowed to run for office, and the party should not be barred from receiving state funding and recruiting new members while the trial continues, the state-run news agency Anatolia said.
The Democratic Society - which has 20 legislators in Parliament - has been criticized by other political parties for calling for autonomy for Kurds living in the country's southeast.
