UN peacekeepers lay barbed wire on Israel-Lebanon border near Ghajar

Peacekeepers have started laying barbed wire along the Lebanon-Israel border to prevent any violation of the Blue Line that divides the two countries, a UN spokeswoman said Thursday.
Dozens of peacekeepers were seen Thursday laying barbed wire in the town of Ghajar, which is divided between Israel and Lebanon. The border has been a point of friction between the two countries and one Lebanese was killed nearby two months ago in a cross border shooting.
Yasmina Bouzian, a spokeswoman for the UN peacekeepers, said the laying of the barbed wire was part of an agreement reached April 2 during a meeting between the head of the UN peacekeeping force and senior officials from the Lebanese and Israeli armies.
