UNIFIL allowed to use force in southern Lebanon

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon has been permitted to use force in order to prevent a potential renewal of clashes. In a statement released on Tuesday by UNIFIL's spokesman, Alexander Ivanko, the newly expanded force's rules of engagement allow UN forces to respond as required… should the situation present any risk of resumption of hostile activities."
