Israel is just taking steps to defend itself against continued rocket attacks by terrorists, the US State Department spokesman said Friday night. The statement was a clear show of support following increased criticism from Palestinian leaders. On Friday both Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas characterized the Israeli operations as "acts of massacre."
