'US has given up on chance of Israeli-Palestinian deal before US elections'

The US has effectively given up on the chance of the Israelis and Palestinians reaching a peace accord before the US elections in November, a Jordanian diplomat was quoted as saying Thursday. The diplomat told the London-based <>A-Aharq Alawsat that the US State department had told the Palestinian Authority and to expect any declarations or concession from Israel to the current political turmoil.
