An American soldier was killed by small arms fire in western Baghdad on Thursday, the military said. The soldier's unit was returning to a US military base after conducting a security patrol, when it came under attack from small arms fire, the military said in a statement. One soldier was killed, and no one else was hurt, it said. The soldier's name was withheld pending family notification.
